Jarrod Bowen will have a scan on a knee injury that forced him to pull out of the England squad for their Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia.

The Three Lions are in action on Monday night as they look to round off their qualification campaign in style.

However, Bowen won't be featuring after picking up an injury.

The West Ham star was an unused substitute for the clash with Malta on Friday night at Wembley.

As a result, he'd have been hoping for some minutes under Gareth Southgate in the final clash in qualifying Group B.

Unfortunately, Bowen will now have to be patient as he waits for his next opportunity to impress.

talkSPORT understands that he is now set for a scan on a knee injury.

Speaking to talkSPORT's England correspondent Faye Carruthers, Southfate said: "Unfortunately Jarrod Bowen has picked up a bit of a knock in training which needs a little bit more assessment before we're completely clear whether it would be the right thing to play or not.

"We weren't going to have time to do that, you'd probably want a small scan just to check it and the time we had before training, we weren't able to do it.

"So we thought it was better for him to let that get checked out at his club."

Pressed as to whether he was in contention to start, Southgate stated: "Well he was in the squad, and we was disappointed we wasn't able to get him into the game at the weekend.

"But as I have said, unfortunately he's not here with us."

The 26-year-old will be desperate to prove himself as someone who is capable of playing a role for England at next summer's European Championships.

Bowen has enjoyed a great season so far for the Hammers, scoring eight Premier League goals.

In addition to an overall tally of nine goals in 16 in all competitions, the forward will be hoping that he can get another chance to impress when the England national team meet up again in March next year.

Along with Bowen, Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier has also withdrawn from the squad due to a personal matter.
