This Friday, New York prosecutors revealed they intended to drop at least one firearms charge against the rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine, leading to an attenuated sentence. Reportedly, prosecutors shaved an entire decade from his to-be-determined prison stay.
Initially, Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernandez, was slapped with the mandatory minimum of 47 years on racketeering among other charges. However, due to stellar cooperation with authorities and the police, Mr. Hernandez may not have to serve as much time as fans first thought.
Michael Longyear, the prosecutor involved in the case, wrote that they were dropping the second count of the indictment: possessing a machine gun in furtherance of a racketeering conspiracy. Longyear said in the statement that Tekashi 6ix9ine’s mandatory minimum would be 37 years.
As it was noted above, Mr. Hernandez is in serious trouble with the federal authorities, however, on account of his cooperation, he’s looking to receive a far less severe sentence. Hernandez worked with the police to see the conviction and subsequent incarceration of other Nine Trey Gangsta Blood members.

Previously, prosecutors described Tekashi’s work with the federal government as “extraordinary.” Tekashi 6ix9ine will be sentenced on the 18th of December, however, how many years he’ll serve is unclear.
Even if the young rapper manages to avoid a serious prison sentence, his reputation in the hip-hop and the black community has been ruined irreparably.
However, not every artist believes Tekashi 6ix9ine will be banished from the scene forever. In fact, earlier this year, Irv Gotti said to reporters from Page Six that he honestly thought Mr. Hernandez would bounce back, because to him, the values of the hip-hop community have changed a lot over the years.

Paraphrasing the rapper, Gotti explained the younger generations care considerably less about the gangster ideals of the past. Not long after, it was reported by TMZ and other outlets that Tekashi 6ix9ine was handed a record deal as well, months after he was first charged. Coincidentally, news of the deal came not long after Gotti’s remarks.
