Louise Pentland a.k.a SprinkleofGlitter has dyed her hair pink for the month of October, in tribute to her mum and to raise awareness for cancer research.

To honour Breast Cancer Awareness month in the UK, the beauty, fashion and lifestyle vlogger posted a very emotional video on YouTube, telling the community why she decided to dye her hair the charity’s signature colour and why cancer research is so important to her.

Louise told her viewers about how her mum passed away from breast cancer when she was just seven years old. During the heartbreaking video, Louise recalls the moment she found out her mum had cancer and talks us through what she remembers of her journey. We hear how her mum’s health deteriorated and how she became a shadow of her former self.

One of the most heart-wrenching parts is when Louise shares her sadness over not having her mum by her side during the most important times of her life such as her graduation and wedding. What upsets Louise the most is the fact that her mum never got to meet and hold her daughter Darcy. Through tears, she says “You think cancer goes when someone dies, but it doesn’t. That cancer stays with the family forever…I still live with cancer because cancer took her.”

“When somebody has been gone for a really long time, they become like a myth or like an urban legend”, Louise continued. “I haven’t seen her for 22, almost 23 years. I can’t remember the sound of her voice and I can’t remember her mannerisms…but she was a real person, she existed.”

With the help of her fans, Louise hopes to make a real difference by raising awareness and much needed funds for cancer research. “Cancer scares me. I don’t want my daughter to have to live the same life I do. I don’t want to miss her growing up. I want a cure. Finding this cure costs money and so I hope we can raise as much as possible to make this come true as soon as possible.” she wrote on her Just Giving page.

Within five hours of setting up her page, Louise raised £10,000 which is incredible! At the time of publishing, her total stands at over £19,000. Louise stated in her video that she didn’t have a set target in mind and just wants to raise as much money as possible for a cause which has affected so many people’s lives.
