Kelly Clarkson recently spoke to Kyle and Jackie O at Australia’s KIIS 106.5, where she revealed that her record label forced her to work with music producer Dr. Luke.
Dr. Luke is currently in a legal battle with pop singer Kesha, who is accusing him of sexual assault and mental abuse. Kesha has also been forced by her record label, Kemosabe Records, which is owned by Sony, to work with Dr. Luke even though he abused her. They’ve given her the ultimatum to either work with the producer or not release any music ever again.
During Kelly Clarkson’s interview, she revealed that her label RCA, which is also owned by Sony, forced her to work with Dr. Luke a few years back. The singer said, “the last time I only worked with him – because literally I got blackmailed by my label. They were like we will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”
Clarkson, who worked with Dr. Luke on Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes, then went on to say that the producer was “not a good guy.” She said, “he’s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning, it’s kind of unfortunate.”
Clarkson was one of the stars who showed her support for Kesha in February when she lost the case of getting out of her record deal. When asked about the case by KIIS 106.5 she said that she didn’t know how to speak about the situation because she wasn’t there when it happened. She then went on to say that she couldn’t “imagine working with someone who had done something like that.”
