To celebrate CelebMix’s fifth anniversary, we have taken a closer look at some of our favourite celebrities, and the different aspects that we love about them.

For this article, we have decided to share with you our five Lady Gaga moments that make us cry!

1. Suffering from chronic pain (2017)

Gaga notably suffers from fibromyalgia, which causes pain throughout the body. As a result of this condition, she was forced to cancel the last 10 dates of her Joanne World Tour in early 2018.

Her experiences with the condition was shown in her Netflix documentary, “Gaga: Five Foot Two”, which was released in 2017. During these scenes, Gaga is seen in visible pain as she is checked by doctors in hospital, where she reveals she has been suffering from chronic pain for several years. It was pretty intense to watch, and it upsets us whenever we look back at it. Below is a clip of a doctor reviewing the scenes:

2. Opening up about being a survivor of sexual assault (2018)

In 2018, Gaga was honoured as one of ELLE Magazine’s Women In Hollywood. At the magazine’s special event, she gave an empowering speech where she opened up about her experience with sexual assault at the age of 19.

Gaga revealed that she was raped by someone in the entertainment industry, who she is still to this day too scared to name. She stated that she “felt shame” and did not tell anyone about what had happened.

Despite the horrific ordeal, Gaga tearfully stated that she has since decided to “take the power back”.

3. This empowering performance of “Till It Happens To You” (2016)

Gaga’s harrowing experience was an inspiration behind her song “Till It Happens To You”, which was released in 2015 and included in the documentary “The Hunting Ground” (2015), which explores sexual assaults taking place on university campuses across the United States.

Gaga delivered a truly emotional performance of the song at the Oscars in 2016, in which she was joined by several sexual assault survivors on stage. We get goosebumps every single time we watch this. Truly a powerful moment.

4. Playing “Joanne” to her grandma (2017)

A particularly sad moment from Gaga’s documentary, “Five Foot Two” saw her play the title track from her fifth studio album, “Joanne” (2016), to her grandma – and there was not a dry eye in the room.

Joanne Germanotta was Gaga’s late aunt, and she felt inspired to write a song about her family dealing with the loss of her following her death.

This particular scene in the documentary saw Gaga and her father visit her grandmother at a nursing home, where she played the track to her. At one point, Gaga’s father becomes overwhelmed with emotion, and leaves the room. Meanwhile, Gaga’s grandmother admits she ‘got it right’ with the song.

Unfortunately, the clip of this scene cannot be found on YouTube, although a similar video showcasing the love Gaga and her grandmother have for each other is below:

5. The final scene of “A Star Is Born” (2018)

The ending of Gaga’s film, “A Star Is Born” (2018) left us in tears when we saw it in the cinema!

At the end of the film, Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), who had married Gaga’s character, Ally Maine, after he helped to launch her successful recording career, commits suicide following a series of personal struggles with alcohol and drug abuse. He hangs himself in their garage, while Ally is performing at a concert.

Ally is left devastated following Jackson’s death. In the last scene, we see her sing a song (“I’ll Never Love Again”) that he had been working on for her before his death.

What makes this scene even more emotional, is the fact that it was filmed shortly after Gaga learnt that her best friend, Sonja *, had died of cancer.
